If you felt a temperature spike at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night, blame it on Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev.
The Vampire Diaries co-stars — who play the romantically entangled (and very steamy!) Damon and Elena on the CW series — majorly turned up the heat as they hit the stage to accept the coveted Favorite On-Screen Chemistry award.
In their speech, Somerhalder and Dobrev recounted Damon and Elena’s love-hate relationship as well as their own off-screen romance and recent split. “We started dating in real life,” says Somerhalder, while Dobrev adds, “And then we broke up in real-life. It’s a good thing it’s not awkward!” Cue the awesome awkwardness.
