Jose Mourinho Given The Green Light By Chelsea Board To Play Weakend Team At Liverpool

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been cleared by the Chelsea hierarchy to field a weakened side in this weekend's title showdown with Liverpool at Anfield, report The Mail

The Portuguese boss believes that his side are now out of the title race and Mourinho is looking to rest players on Sunday ahead of next Wednesday's Champions League semi-final second leg against Atletico Madrid. However, he also indicated that he would need to seek the approval of club officials above him to effectively surrender the title to the Reds.

Speaking after the first leg in Madrid on Tuesday, Mourinho said; "I would play the players that are not going to play next Wednesday. I can't decide by myself. I'm just the manager. I have to listen to the club."

It appears that Mourinho asked for permission on Wednesday, and Chelsea’s football board consisting of Dave Barnard, Bruce Buck, Ron Gourlay, Marina Granovskaia and Eugene Tenenbaum gave Mourinho the go ahead to rest the remaining fit players ahead of next Wednesday's match.

With John Terry and Petr Cech already out until the end of the season, Mourinho is looking to rest a number of his key first team players at Anfield to give his side the best chance of making the Champions League final.

This could mean starts for youngsters Tomas Kalas, Nathan Ake and Andreas Christensen, who will likely now have to deal with the league's top scorer in Luis Suarez.

Manchester City sign wonderkid Iheanacho on pre-contract

                             

Nigerian wonderkid Kelechi Iheanacho has signed a pre-contract with Manchester City and will join the club in October, his father has confirmed.

City have resurrected the move for Iheanacho  and agreed terms after a dispute between his parents and the club arose over bonus payments threatened to collapse a deal last month.

. “The situation is that Kelechi hasn’t turned 18 yet and until he does, he can’t sign but what he has done is sign a pre-contract with Manchester City pending his 18th birthday,” Iheanacho’s father James told brilafm.net at the Confederation of African Football's gala award ceremony in Lagos.

Goal revealed last week that a £250,000 transfer fee has been agreed for Iheanacho, with a further £300,000  being paid to the Taye Academy in Owerri and £350,000 to the youngster’s father.

Iheanacho's 17-year-old compatriot, Chidi Nwakali is also expected to sign imminently after arriving at the club for talks last week.

Ethiopia Players Complain About Match Bonus Against Nigeria

Ethiopia players are unhappy with the win bonus approved for Sunday’s World Cup playoff against Nigeria, saying it cannot motivate them.

Details of the bonus are still not known, but several of the players insist they deserve more.

“We deserve better than what the government has promised us. It seems we are not appreciated by our government,” said one of the  players.

For the 2013 AFCON in South Africa, the team were reportedly supported by the country’s richest man, Mohammed Al Amoudi.

This comes at a time when the Walya Antelopes are sweating on the fitness of their star striker Getaneh Kebede.

Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur for a record-breaking €100 million.

The Wales international succeeds new team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo as the game's most expensive player after penning a six-year contract with the Liga giants.

Bale, who will be officially unveiled as a Madrid player at a press conference at 13:00CET on Monday, first came to prominence as a 16-year-old with Southampton before joining Tottenham in 2007.

The then full-back initially struggled at White Hart Lane but he flourished after being converted into a winger, winning the PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2010-11.

Bale collected the same prize last year, after scoring 26 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.

His fantastic form was not enough to earn Spurs a place in the Champions League but the 24-year-old will now feature in the competition this season after finally completing his drawn-out move to Madrid.

Indeed, the deal had been expected to be completed last week but Spurs refused to sanction the transfer until replacements had been signed. 

However, after signing Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen, the English outfit belatedly gave Bale's move the green light.

Preview: Liverpool vs. Manchester United

        

The most anticipated match of the day, Liverpool will be looking to maintain their 100% start to the Premier League when they host Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday.

Brendan Rodgers's side have defeated Stoke City and Aston Villa both 1-0 and have impressed with their performances both home and away.

On the other hand, David Moyes's United have picked up four points from their opening two matches of the campaign, hammering Swansea City 4-1 away from home before drawing 0-0 with Chelsea at Old Trafford on Monday.

United will know that winning at Anfield will be a huge boost in their attempt to retain the league title, but will have to do so without the injured trio of Javier Hernandez, Rafael da Silva and Nani.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will take to the pitch without the suspended striker Luis Suarez and are also expected to leave Aly Cissokho, Joe Allen and Kolo Toure out of their squad because of injuries.

However, Martin Skrtel has recovered from his injury and is likely to return to the heart of the Reds defence alongside Daniel Agger, with Jose Enrique expected to start at left-back.

Frank Ribery Named Europe’s Best Player

                            

Franck Ribery has pipped both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to the UEFA Best Player in Europe Award on Thursday.

The Frenchman had been shortlisted alongside the Barcelona and Real Madrid stars for UEFA’s annual award, recognising the best footballer from the previous season.

Ribery, who helped Bayern Munich to the Champions League title last season, as well as League and Cup success domestically, was today voted ahead of Messi and Ronaldo in a live vote by 53 selected journalists attending the UEFA Gala in Monaco.

Arsenal are ready to begin a late summer spending spree after launching a triple swoop for Yohan Cabaye, Geoffrey Kondogbia and 
Atsuto Uchida.

 Arsenal made an enquiry rather than a formal offer for the 20-year-old midfield anchorman and were told he would only be sold if the €20m buy-out clause in his contract is met.

It is believed that the London club are also waiting for a response from Schalke after making a €7m bid for Uchida, the Bundesliga club’s right-back.

The frenzy of offers has come on the back of Arsenal’s 3-1 opening-day Premier League defeat to Aston Villa and a summer in which they have failed to make a senior signing despite making bids for a string of marquee players including Luis Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain, Marouane Fellaini and Luiz Gustavo.

Sevilla’s outspoken president Jose Maria del Nido has said that he would consider it an “attack” on his club if anyone tried to buy Kondogbia this summer but has admitted that the France international has a €20m (£17.2m) buy-out clause in his contract.

Arsene Wenger has taken action to reinforce a squad that is looking increasingly threadbare after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain became the latest senior player to face a long spell on the sidelines.

Wenger is already without Mikel Arteta, who is out for up to a month with a thigh injury picked up in training last week, and skipper Thomas Vermaelen, who will be missing until mid-October with a stress fracture of his back.

CHELSEA 2 HULL CITY 0: Jose Mourinho enjoyed a comfortable return to the Premier League as Chelsea got their season off to a winning start against Hull. The fan who was jailed for invading the pitch during the International Champions Cup match between Real Madrid and Chelsea to hug Cristiano Ronaldo last week has stressed that he has no regrets over his actions.

Ronald Gjoka, 19, ran onto the pitch in the 67th minute to embrace his idol, only to be arrested by local police and taken to jail for trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Gjoka spent the night in prison before he was allowed to leave the day after, yet he has stressed that the moment was worth the punishment.
“Honestly, first thing was look straight, find Cristiano and don’t look back. Just go,” Gjoka told Local10.

“I decided to add a little knee slide on it just for a little celebration. I think Ronaldo always does that celebration so I thought that he would find it funny, and he did, he gave it a little laugh.
“But after that, I gave him a big hug, told him you’re one of my biggest idols, always followed you and I said, ‘Please, Ronaldo, don’t let the cops take me,’ and that’s when Ronaldo gave me a very big hug.

“I got the opportunity to talk to Ronaldo. It was a unique opportunity and I had to take it. It was worth the detention.”
The Portugal international netted twice to help Madrid to a 3-1 win over Chelsea in last week’s encounter.

Samsung Plans To Upstage The iPhone 5S By Announcing An iWatch-Killer And A New Giant Phone On September 4

Samsung will announce the "Galaxy Gear," a smart watch running on Android on September 4th, SamMobile reports.

SamMobile is a Samsung-focused blog with an excellent track record of breaking news on Samsung.
In addition to the smart watch, Samsung is also going to announce a Galaxy Note III, the third iteration of its giant smartphone line. The new Note will have a screen of 5.68-inches.
The timing of Samsung's announcement is fun.
On September 10, just six days later, Apple will announce its next iPhone, the iPhone 5S. It's also probably going to announce the iPhone 5C, a new low-cost iPhone.

There's a very good chance Apple will email reporters the formal invite to its iPhone event, thus taking a little spotlight away from Samsung.
But really, it's Samsung that's trying to upstage Apple.
Samsung will reveal an entirely new product with its smart watch, and it will reveal another giant phone.

Apple has been getting hammered for a lack of new innovative products, and for refusing to release an iPhone with a giant screen.
At one event, Samsung will do both!
Now, just because Samsung has a smart watch doesn't mean it's going to be any good. Samsung's mobile success has a lot to do with copying Apple (and everyone else). There's nothing to copy here, so who knows what it's going to release.
Right before Apple released the iPad, Microsoft rushed to announce the Slate. It was DOA after Apple released the iPad. Microsoft is still trying to catch up four years later.
If we had to guess, we'd say Samsung's Galaxy Gear is going to follow a similar pattern.
