The Vampire Diaries: 7 Teases From the Epic Season 5 Premiere

The Cast of The Vampire Diaries Season 5

Well, the screeners for the Season 5 premiere of The Vampire Diaries are out! Just because fans can’t see how epic the return is going to be until October 3, that doesn’t mean we can’t share some super-specific spoilers. Here are 7 of the best hints TVLine and ETonline just dropped about the much-anticipated premiere

Shirtless Damon

According to ETonline, the real-life breakup of Ian Somerhalder (Damon) and Nina Dobrev (Elena) hasn’t done anything the quell their onscreen chemistry. In fact, it’s going to be hotter than ever — and put to good use in the first six minutes. Be on the lookout for two separate shirtless Damon scenes. You’re welcome. Sounds like we don’t want to be late for the 8 p.m. start time!

Hope for Stelena

Even though Delena will definitely be the focus come early Season 5, according to TVLine, there’s still “something to tide [Stelena fans] over.” Hmm, that’s particularly interesting given that, from the Episode 2 synopsis, it sounds like Stefan will be M.I.A. throughout the entire premiere.

Matt the pimp

Seriously. According to ETonline, Matt not only gets some Rebekah “closure” in his epic European tour, but also brings back a “shady, stage-five clinger with sticky fingers and a dubious drive” in new character Nadia.

Katherine has a purpose

If you thought Katherine’s role in Season 5 would just be to continuously complain about how hard it is to be human, then you were wrong (though, TVLine has this hilarious Katherine quote from the ep: “I’m weak, and I’m slow. Do you have any idea what it’s like to run in heels? I have blisters.”) According to ETonline, “Katherine's purpose this season is slowly revealed to be much, much more significant than to simply reveal the side-effects of taking The Cure.”

Silas is super scary

Both reviews of the ep mentioned the horrifying nature of the Silas moment showcased in the Comic Con preview. According to ETonline, “a specific moment was intentionally omitted from that scene, ensuring you’ll be screaming ‘OMG!’ as the episode fades to black.” And TV Line seems to think Bonnie’s scream in that scene is 100 percent validated.

Boyfriend/brother bonding

From all accounts, Jeremy is less than excited that he is living in the Salvatore mansion with his big sister’s boyfriend come Season 5, but it won’t be all doom and gloom. According to TVLine, “Damon and Jeremy share a scene that may just make you forget about the time the vamp tried to kill Elena’s little bro and instead go, ‘Awww.’” We can’t wait.

Tyler’s in Tennessee

What’s in Tennessee, you may ask? Apparently, “a wolf pack ...[that] really needs [Tyler’s] help,” according to TVLine. It keeps him away from Mystic Falls/Whitmore College in the Season 5 premiere. There’s always a wolf pack, isn’t there, Tyler?
